CHESTER HOUSE ARRIVES AT JUDDMONTE
In view of the six-figure fees commanded by some of Mr
Prospector’s Grade 1 winning sons, such as Fusaichi Pegasus,
Kingmambo and Seeking The Gold, it is easy to see why breeders have
given Chester House, another of his Grade 1 winners, a very warm
welcome at his fee of $25,000, live foal.
It looks as though Chester House will cover a book of around 100
mares, including a strong contingent from Juddmonte Farm’s powerful
broodmare band.
Other breeders are entrusting him with numerous dams of stakes
winners, including Fee (dam of High Stakes Player, Gr.3 Palos
Verdes Handicap), Festivity (dam of Lady Affirmed Gr.3 Athenia H.),
Ms. Eloise (dam of Bibury Court, Gr.3 Alysheba Stakes) and Pleasant
Deception (dam of Four On The Floor, Gr.1 Grey Breeders’ Cup
Stakes).
Chester House’s popularity reflects his very attractive blend of
pedigree and performance. Like Kingmambo, he is the product of a
mating between Mr Prospector and a Grade 1-winning grand-daughter
of Northern Dancer. His dam, Toussaud, was good enough to finish
fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile and both her first two foals have
performed very well on Breeders’ Cup day. Chester House finished an
excellent fourth of 14 in the 1999 Classic after being left with a
great deal to do by a stumble at the start. His half-sister Honest
Lady’s powerful stretch run failed by only half a length to catch
Kona Gold in the 2000 Breeders Cup Sprint.
Chester House’s effort in the Classic suggests that his progeny
will by very much at home on the main track and he is also sure to
get top turf performers, judging by his scintillating win in the
Arlington Million
