EXPLICIT ROMPS IN RIDAN STAKES (LR)
EXPLICIT (4YO colt by DISTANT VIEW out of Elegant Victress by
Sir Ivor) ran away from the field in the Ridan Stakes (LR) on
Saturday, March 3rd. In his last race of 2000, Explicit finished
fourth in the Gr.1 Malibu Stakes, running with multiple GSW Caller
One for six furlongs. That effort set him up perfectly for his
return to stakes company.
Explicit led from gate to wire in an explosive performance. The 2-1
favorite ran the first quarter in 21:86, was 2 ½ lengths clear of
the rest of the field after a half mile in :44 3/5. He won the
six-furlong race on the dirt by 8 ½ lengths in a time of 1:09.05.
The other two six furlong stakes races run that day were run in
1:10.79 (the Chip Stakes) and 1:10.68 (the Technology Stakes).
Explicit was bred and is owned by Marvin Malmuth and trained by
Ian Jory. California-based jockey Kent Desormeaux was in for the
winning ride.
Explicit's dominating win in the Ridan Stakes (LR)earned him a
118 Beyer Figure. This is the highest figure for any horse to run
this year (through March 15th).
