DECARCHY WINS Gr.3 TANFORAN H.
Decarchy won the Gr.3 Tanforan Handicap at Golden Gate Fields on
February 9. Decarchy, a son of Distant View out of the great
racemare Toussaud, took back early off the uncontested pace of
I’madrifter as jockey Russell Baze was content to stay in sixth
while saving ground. When the field began to bunch up heading into
the stretch, Baze shot Decarchy through a hole, then quickly passed
I’madrifter to assume the lead. Decarchy opened up through the lane
to win the 1 1/16- mile race on a good turf course in 1:44.25.
‘Bobby [referring to trainer Bobby Frankel] said just don’t get
him shut off,’ Baze said. ‘I saw that nice little hole, eased up
into it, chirped to him and away he went. He couldn’t be a nicer
horse. He did everything I wanted. When I needed him to relax, he
relaxed, and when I asked him, he moved.’
Decarchy is the third Graded SW Toussaud (a Gr.1 winning
daughter of El Gran Senor) has produced. Her first foal is Gr.1
Arlington Million winner Chester House (standing at Juddmonte
Farms) and her second in the Gr.1 Santa Monica winner Honest
Lady.
Decarchy’s sire, Distant View, now has five SWs from 59 foals in
his first crop (8%). They include Champions Distant Music and
Observatory and Graded SWs Fateful Dream and now Decarchy. The
fifth SW (and Graded stakes-placed to Champion Kona Gold) is the
brilliantly fast sprinter Explicit.
