EXPLICIT WINS AGAIN
Marvin and Sonja Malmuth’s Explicit (a son of Distant View) won
his second consecutive stakes with a facile victory in the Gr.3
Count Fleet Sprint Handicap.
In the Count Fleet, Explicit and jockey Lonnie Meche showed the
way through fractions of :21.78, :44.53 and :56.33 in the
six-furlong sprint. Entrepreneur made a move to challenge in the
stretch, but Explicit drew away to win by 3 ¼ lengths in
1:08.6.
“We knew we were the speed of the speed,” trainer Ian Jory said.
“As he has matured, he has started putting it all together.”
Winning jockey Lonnie Meche said, “You can’t put enough pressure on
this horse to make him wilt. He just does it so easy and never
reacts to any pressure. He won this well within himself.”
Explicit notched his fifth win, with earnings of $413,190.
Explicit’s tentative next start is the Gr.3 Bay Meadows Breeders’
Cup H. on May 11th.
Bred in Kentucky, Explicit is out of the Sir Ivor mare Elegant
Victress and is a half-brother to Gr.3 Flying Victory, SW Vying
Victor and SW Sharp Victor. He is from the immediate family of
Horse of the Year Victoria Park.
