DISTANT VIEW CONTINUES TO ROLE

Tantina, a three-year-old daughter of Distant View out of Didina by Nashwan, won the seven-furlong Sceptre Stakes (LR) at Doncaster by an easy five lengths. Coming into the race with a perfect three-for-three record, Tantina started running as soon as the gates opened and dictated the pace. Never under serious threat, she started to ease clear of the field approaching the final furlong and won by five lengths.

“She’s a very exciting prospect and I think she can improve again,” said her trainer Barry Hills. “She absolutely slammed them and that was brilliant. She has a lot of natural speed so the Gr.1 Prix de la Foret [at Longchamp Oct. 12] and the Gr.2 Challenge S. [at Newmarket Oct. 18] are what we are looking at. We will also consider the [Gr.2] Sun Chariot S. [at Newmarket Oct. 4] as she may get the mile.” See video of a previous listed win by Tantina under video.

Also, that same day, Distant View’s two-year-old daughter Royal Distant (out of Encorenous by Diesis) won a one mile maiden race. The Racing Post comments read, “Royal Distant took a while to get going but once she did, she swept clear of her rivals to win by an eased down two and a half lengths. She is obviously going to make up into a better three-year-old over further.”

Distant View’s two-year-old colt Fantastic View (out of Promptly by Lead on Time) won the Stardom Stakes (LR) at Goodwood. The Racing Post writes, “This renewal looked well up to its status and was run at a good pace with Fantastic View narrowly failing to improve the track record set by this year’s Jersey Stakes third Rimrod last year. The first three finished well clear, only forging away in the final furlong, suggesting they are Group winners in waiting. Fantastic View had to dig deep in the last 100yds after impressing in cruising into contention from the back of the field. He looks the sort to go on at three over this trip (one mile) with trainer Richard Hannon adding that ten furlongs should suit next year.”

Distant View’s two-year-old filly Topango (out of Verdent Hoofer by Green Dancer) won the La Senorita Stakes (LR) at Retama Park. This impressive filly has won three straight races since making her debut on May 11th.
