DISTANT WAY WINS LAST STAKES IN 2003
Distant Way, a son of Distant View, won the final European
Stakes race of 2003, the Listed Criterium di Pisa Blandford
Services. This two-year-old colt ran out an easy two and a quarter
length winner. He was recording his first Stakes success and his
third victory of the season. The colt broke his maiden in July in
Naples.
Distant Way is a son of Grey Way (by Cozzene), the
highweight on the Italian Free Handicap at 9 ½ to 11 furlongs at
three years of age. He won the Gr.2 Premio Lydia Tesio in Italy and
placed in the Gr.2 La Prevoyante Handicap in the U.S.
Distant Way was bred in Kentucky by Grundy Bloodstock, he is
owned by Allevamento La Nuova Sbarra and is trained by Lorenzo
Brogi.
Distant View has 14 two-year-old winners in 2003. They include
the stakes horses Distant Way, Fantastic View (Gr.3 Autumn Stakes
and second in the Gr.1 Racing Post), Ithaca (2nd in the Gr.3
Prestige Stakes), Tentative (3rd in the Firth of Clyde Stakes (LR))
and Topango (La Senorita Stakes (LR)).
