THE START OF AN EMPIRE

Two mares in-foal to Empire Maker sold the first day of the 2004 Keeneland November Sale. The first mare, Seeking Regina, sold for $600,000 to ClassicStar LLC. The second mare, Desert Queen, sold for $775,000, also to ClassicStar LLC.

There are seven mares in-foal to first year stallion Empire Maker in the 2004 Keeneland November Sale. They are:

Desert Queen, 1993, Wavering Monarch/Seen and Silent (hip no. 166)
Desert Queen is the dam of 2003 two-year-old SW MARYLEBONE (Gr.1 Matron Stakes), who is by Unbridled’s Song. Desert Queen is a full sister to FLICKER QUEEN (Duchess Stakes [L]) and WAVERING SCENE (Turf Paradise Derby [L]). Flicker Queen, in turn, is the dam of GSW and Canadian Classic winner STEPHANOTIS. This is the same female family as multiple Gr.1 winner CAME HOME.

Fluid Move, 1994, Nureyev/From Sea to Sea (hip no. 522)
Fluid Move placed in the Valley View and Wonder Where Stakes [L] and earned $100,000. She is a half-sister to SEALAUNCH (Seattle Slew Stakes [L]). Her dam is From Sea to Sea (second in the Ontario Colleen Handicap [L]). From Sea to Sea is a half-sister to SECRETO (Gr.1 Epsom Derby).

Ms. Strike Zone, 1994, Deputy Minister/Bat Prospector (hip no. 603)
Ms. Strike Zone is the dam of MAGISTRETTI (2004 Gr.1 Man O’ War Stakes and second in the 2004 Gr.1 Arlington Million, etc.). Her second dam is Champion BATUCADA, dam of DAMISTER (Gr.2 Dante Stakes and second in the Gr.1 William Hill Futurity), SELOUS SCOUT (Gr.1 Pan American Handicap), and Ilusao, the dam of Champion BRAZILIAN BEAT.

Regal Pennant, 1988, Banner Bob/Regal Relation (hip no. 1038)
Regal Pennant won the Ontario Debutante Stakes [L] and earned over $150,000. Regal Pennant is the dam of REGAL MISS COPELAN (Colleen Stakes [L]) and REGALLY APPEALING (Gr.2 Adirondack Stakes).

Seeking Regina, 1992, Seeking the Gold/Fulbright Scholar (hip no. 36)
Seeking Regina won the Gr.2 Adirondack Stakes. She is the dam of SEEKING THE SKY (Gr.3 Interborough Handicap), Seeking It All (third in the Gr.1 Spinaway Stakes), and Seeking the Money (second in the Gr.2 Sanford Stakes). Seeking Regina is a full sister to OXFORD SCHOLAR (Valley Stream Stakes [L]). Her dam is FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR (Busher Handicap [L]).

Storm Away, 2001, Storm Cat/Sun Blush (hip no. 705)
Storm Away is a half-sister to RELINGUISH (Round Barn Handicap [L]). Her second dam is IMMENSE (Gr.3 Little Silver Handicap). Immense is the dam of MARIAH’S STORM (Gr.2 Turfway Park BC Stakes and dam of Champion GIANT’S CAUSEWAY), AIR ZION (Jiji Press Hai Queen Stakes [L]), PANORAMIC (Gr.2 Prix d’Harcourt and second in the Gr.1 Rothmans International), and Tinaca, the dam of the GSW QUEST STAR.

Sunlit Silence, 1991, Trempolino/Tuesday Evening (hip no. 377)
Sunlit Silence is the dam of GREEK SUN (Gr.2 Oak Tree Derby and second in the 2004 Gr.1 Secretariat Stakes). Sunlit Silence is a half-sister to MADAME PANDIT (Gr.3 Monrovia Handicap), FISCALLY SPEAKING (Gr.3 Aegon Turf Sprint Stakes) and MEA DOMINA (Ramser H. [L]). Her third dam is General Store, the family of 2004 English 2000 Guineas winner HAAFHD.
