'Mizzen Mast Colt Looks Fast'
A colt from the first crop of Juddmonte Farms' Mizzen Mast (Cozzene) proved popular in the ring, attracting a final bid of $105,000. Consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, the April 28th foal is a son of Salini (Woodman) and hails from an Allen Paulson family which includes GSW Stylish and MGSP Tangazi.
Pinhooker Peter O'Callaghan signed the ticket on behalf of Bloodstock services. "He's just a stylish looking horse by a nice young sire," O'Callaghan commented. "He was expensive but hopefully we'll get lucky." He indicated that the colt will be prepared for the Keeneland September Sale this year.
European Bloodstock News
One of Kentucky’s more intriguing and possibly overlooked young stallions is Juddmonte’s MIZZEN MAST. With a mouth-watering outcross and the proven talent on two continents to match, there must be a discerning group of breeders and buyers eager to test that potential. From the latter group comes Bloodstock Services, who took away the highest-selling yearling from the early half of Day Four, a MIZZEN MAST-sired colt out of the Woodman mare Salini for $105,000. Paramount Sales consigned this nicely-fitted fellow whose sire, a son of Cozzene out of the Graustark mare Kinema, saw his American career halted after an exceptionally promising sweep of the Malibu and Strub Stakes at Santa Anita. Gr.1-placed in France, he stands at Juddmonte for $15,000.
