FASIG TIPTON TOP TEN
The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale took
place on Monday in Timonium, Maryland.
Saturday’s Gr.1 Preakness Stakes hero Afleet Alex (Northern Afleet)
was sold at this sale last year, going
to CJZ Racing Stable for a bargain $75,000. This year’s sale topper
was a daughter of Unbridled’s Song (Lot 263), who completed two
furlongs in 22s at the under tack preview. The grey filly was
bought by LRK Stable for $175,000 at last year’s Keeneland
September Yearling Sale and her price advanced to $280,000 on
this
occasion.
The day’s top priced colt was Lot 206, a son of
APTITUDE and a
half-brother to the Gr.1 winning sprinter and sire Richter
Scale (Habitony), who worked two furlongs in 222⁄5s at the
preview. He has failed to sell on the previous two occasions
he has been offered for sale. He was led out unsold at
$170,000 at Keeneland’s
September Sale last year and at $120,000 at this year’s
Fasig-Tipton Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. He finally
sold for $240,000 here and was knocked down to LRK Stables.
Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, the colt is out of the triple
scorer Devine Pet (Bel Bolide), a half-sister to the dam of the
multiple Gr.1 winner Best Pal (also by Habitony).
