DANSILI’S LINK TRIUMPHANT IN ARC
Rail Link, a second crop son of Juddmonte’s
DANSILI, powered home
to lift this year’s Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp
yesterday. The Andre Fabre trained three-year-old defeated his
elders in a pulsating finish under Stephane Pasquier, out-gunning
Japanese superstar Deep Impact (Sunday Silence), while Arc regular
Pride (Peintre Celebre) secured her best ever finish in the race,
flying home to snatch second in the final few strides.
Last year’s winner Hurricane Run (Montjeu) encountered traffic
problems and finished a disappointing fourth, well behind his
stablemate, while the last of the Andre Fabre trio, Breeders’ Cup
Turf hero
Shirocco (Monsun), weakened to finish last of the eight runners
after racing prominently in the early stages. It was the seventh
success in the race for Andre Fabre and the fifth straight victory
for Rail Link, who has landed this season’s Gr.1 Grand Prix de
Paris, Gr.2 Prix Niel and Gr.3 Prix du Lys, all over course and
distance.
His sire, DANSILI
(Danehill), is a full-brother to the Gr.1winners
CACIQUE,
Intercontinental and Banks Hill and a three-parts brother to the
Gr.1 heroine Heat Haze (Green Desert). CACIQUE, a dual Gr.1 winner in the United
States this season, will stand alongside his brother at Banstead
Manor next year. Rail Link is likely to stay in training next
season but is unlikely to run again this term.
