JUBILATION AT HORSE OF THE YEAR AWARD
The former Pascal Bary-trained Listed winner and Group-placed Jubilation (ZAMINDAR) was crowned Horse of the Year last night at the Horse Racing Gala in Gothenburg, Sweden. He captured the title thanks to his victories in the Listed Stockholms Stora Pris at Taby and the Gr.3 Marit Sveaas Minneslöpat at Ovrevoll last year. He won three races in nine starts last year and almost SKr1.2 million.
He was bred by Juddmonte Farms, in whose colours he won the Listed Prix de Pontarme, where he beat Westerner (Danehill), and was second in the Gr.3 Prix Quincey. He was bought by the MAB Agency for 37,000gns out of the 2003 Tattersalls Horses in Training Sales on behalf of leading Swedish owner Sten Thynell of Stall Lambada. He later sold a half share to the major Swedish trotting owner Göran Falk of Falkbolagen AB. Jubilation is trained by Fredrik Reuterskiöld in Malmø at the Jägersro track and was ridden by the Chilean Champion Jockey Manuel Martinez, who had a very successfully spell in Sweden last summer.
OSCAR'S SUN (4, c, Zamindar - Solar Annie (Sjm)), making his debut and let go at a whopping 87-1, took command from the start and increased his advantage at every call, galloping home an easy 9 1/2 length winner over 5 1/2 f at Mountaineer Park.
He became Zamindar's 20th individual winner (only 52 foals) from his 1st American crop.
ZAMINDAR stands at Banstead Manor Stud for £7,000slf and has his first European two-year-olds in 2006 since his return from America.
