APTITUDE LEADS 2ND CROP SIRES FOR 2006
The Thoroughbred Daily News reported on 6/14/06 that
Aptitude has rocketed to the premier spot on the 2nd crop sire list
for 2006 with a total of 17 winners and earnings of $1,378,576 for
2006. These earnings have also pushed Aptitude to 4th on the
cumulative second crop sires list. From those progeny that
have contributed to his rankings, consistency seems to be a
commonality among them.
Steppenwolfer, Aptitude’s leading earner for 2006, thus far, has
provided his sire with a classic placed horse from his first crop.
He has been stakes placed on four separate occasions and, without
the intention of jinxing him, is the type of horse who is knocking
on the door of a stakes win.
He isn’t Aptitude’s only stakes performer that has seen stakes
success, however. Just last Friday, Outperformance flew
home to win the Hill Prince Stakes Gr. 3 at Belmont. 1st or
2nd in every start other than his debut in 2005, his race record
shows that he is consistently at the top of his game.
Amandatude, as well, has shown herself to be a filly that can be
depended on. Being Aptitude’s leading earner in 2005 as a two
year old, she has only improved with age as she has been twice
stakes placed and scored her first stakes victory when winning the
Polly’s Jet Stakes (LR) at Delaware Park.
Sky Diving and Princess Patricia are other examples of
Aptitude’s progeny that have come home with stakes placed
finishes.
When his produce record is closely examined, it is no surprise
that Aptitude has made his way to the top of the sophomore sire
standings. Consistency is the force that is driving
him.
