Prix du Lys Gr.3
RAIL LINK pulled clear
of his rivals at Longchamp, a Juddmonte homebred he carried a
smooth victory on his Group debut, drawing away from his rivals in
the closing stages to win by an unchallenged two and a half
lengths. Unraced at two, this was the fourth start and second
victory for the winner, who got off the mark at Saint-Cloud last
time out.
Rail Link is a member of the second crop of Banstead Manor
stallion Dansili
(Danehill) and a half-brother to the Gr.3 La Coupe de
Maisons-Laffitte victor, Gr.1-placed and sire Chelsea Manor (Grand
Lodge) and to three other winners. Their dam, Docklands
(Theatrical) won five times and is a half-sister to the Gr.3 July
Stakes scorer, Gr.2 runner-up and sire Wharf (Storm Bird), Listed
victrix Mooring (Zafonic) and to Colza (Alleged), dam of last
season’s Gr.1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud and this year’s Gr.3
Lingfield Derby Trial Stakes winner Linda’s Lad (Sadler’s
Wells).
The grandam is the Listed winner Dockage (Riverman), the dam of ten
winners and a daughter of the unraced Golden Alibi (Empery). The
latter is a half-sister to legendary racemare Dahlia (Vaguely
Noble), herself the dam of the Gr.1 winners Rivlia, Dahar and
Delegant.
Docklands has a yearling colt by Oasis Dream.
