(BEAT HOLLOW), the
centrepiece of a 46-1 Frankie Dettori hattrick, booked his flight
to Woodbine next month for a valuable stakes race after battling
his way to a length victory over hotpot Eddie Jock in the feature
Listed race for juveniles.
The Andrew Balding-trained colt was well supported into 7-1 (from
11) for the 1m race, even though he is rated 23lb inferior to Eddie
Jock in current handicap lists, but the easy going suited him
rather better than the favourite and he was never going to be
caught after hitting the front two furlongs out.
"I thought he'd be in the shakeup, but I wasn't sure he was good
enough to win," said Balding, whose parents Ian and Emma bought the
colt as a yearling. "He's got a great temperament and Frankie said
he was very game. He now goes for the Can$250,000 Summer Stakes at
Woodbine on September 17, and could well be sold on from there to
race in America."
Frankie Dettori rewarded his fans with a trademark flying dismount
after his win on Streets Ahead, as well he might after a fine ride
on the Balding horse
