STERN OPINION WINS THE PRIX YACOWLEF

Khalid Abdullah’s Stern Opinion(MIZZEN
MAST) defeated African Rose (OBSERVATORY) by 21.2 lengths in the Prix
Yacowlef to score a stakes victory at Deauville in his career
debut. Trained by Pascal Bary, the gray or roan Mizzen Mast colt
completed 1,000 meters (4.97 furlongs) under jockey Stephane
Pasquier in 1:00.90 on turf rated as soft. Bred in Kentucky by
Juddmonte Farms, Stern Opinion is the fourth winner from six
starters out of the winning Nureyev mare Helstra, a half sister to
multiple stakes winner and sire Stormy Atlantic. Other accomplished
members of Stern Opinion’s immediate family include Grade 1 winner
Hail Atlantis and 2005 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) winner
Bandini.
