STERN OPINION WINS THE PRIX YACOWLEF

Taken from the Thoroughbred Times Today

Khalid Abdullah’s Stern Opinion(MIZZEN MAST) defeated African Rose (OBSERVATORY) by 21.2 lengths in the Prix Yacowlef to score a stakes victory at Deauville in his career debut. Trained by Pascal Bary, the gray or roan Mizzen Mast colt completed 1,000 meters (4.97 furlongs) under jockey Stephane Pasquier in 1:00.90 on turf rated as soft. Bred in Kentucky by Juddmonte Farms, Stern Opinion is the fourth winner from six starters out of the winning Nureyev mare Helstra, a half sister to multiple stakes winner and sire Stormy Atlantic. Other accomplished members of Stern Opinion’s immediate family include Grade 1 winner Hail Atlantis and 2005 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) winner Bandini.
