Roman Emperor rebounded from a runner-up finish in his career debut
last month with a comfortable 3 ¼-length triumph under Jeremy
Rose.
Roman Emperor rated in fifth through a pedestrian first quarter,
then advanced to third and raced a length behind the front-runner
through six furlongs. Joining the leaders three wide on the turn,
he took command in midstretch and finished with a flourish. Roman
Emperor finished second, 10 ¼ lengths behind Cool Coal Man, in a
one-mile and 70-yard maiden special weight race in his career bow
on October 10 at Delaware Park.
Grade 1-placed stakes winner Lady Melesi, by Colonial Affair, is
the dam of Roman Emperor, a half brother to graded stakesplaced
winner Doc Cheney. Roman Emperor hails from the immediate family of
1981 champion older female
