NOTABLE MAIDEN WINNER FOR EMPIRE MAKER

Taken from the Thoroughbred Times
Roman Emperor rebounded from a runner-up finish in his career debut last month with a comfortable 3 ¼-length triumph under Jeremy Rose.
Roman Emperor rated in fifth through a pedestrian first quarter, then advanced to third and raced a length behind the front-runner through six furlongs. Joining the leaders three wide on the turn, he took command in midstretch and finished with a flourish. Roman Emperor finished second, 10 ¼ lengths behind Cool Coal Man, in a one-mile and 70-yard maiden special weight race in his career bow on October 10 at Delaware Park.
Grade 1-placed stakes winner Lady Melesi, by Colonial Affair, is the dam of Roman Emperor, a half brother to graded stakesplaced winner Doc Cheney. Roman Emperor hails from the immediate family of 1981 champion older female Relaxing.
