ANDREAS SCHUTZ IS DELIGHTED WITH CHAMPIONS GALLERY
Article taken from ANZ Bloodstock news
Andreas Schutz was know as ‘the classic trainer’ in Germany and
was delighted with snaring third placing with Champions Gallery
(DANSILI), brilliantly and daringly
handled by Olivier Doleuze, with his first Hong Kong Derby
runner.
‘We’ve been having some trouble with his feet, and again today
he’s lost a shoe off one front foot, so for that to happen and
still finish third has been a very good result,’ Schutz said. ‘I
was a bit disappointed after the barrier draw, when he drew 13, but
Olivier and I had a good meeting yesterday and discussed the best
way to ride him and what happened was what we decided.
‘We agreed that Olivier should wait around midfield, letting him
balance and relax, and then go for it at 800 metres to make it a
staying test. We thought that would give us our best shot to beat
Floral Pegasus and I guess it was ultimately what brought the
favourite undone’
