ZAMINDAR’S LONGCHAMP SUCCESS CONTINUES
Taken from the EBN
Zafonic’s full-brother ZAMINDAR has made an exceptional start
to 2007. Darjina struck for the Juddmonte sire in last weekend’s
Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and another of his daughters
triumphed in a Longchamp Gr.1 contest yesteday.
The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Coquerelle maintained her
unbeaten record on her Group debut with a half length success over
Believe Me (In The Wings) in the Gr.1 Prix Saint-Alary. Darjina and
Coquerelle are both members of ZAMINDAR’s first crop of
three-year-olds since his return from the United States.
The Prix Saint-Alary was also a great result for Arqana – the
first two home are both graduates of their August Yearling Sale.
The first and second are likely to meet again in next month’s Gr.1
Prix Diane at Chantilly.
Incidentally, Bold Empress (Diesis), grandam of yesterday’s Gr.2
Premio Carlo d’Alessio victrix Exhibit One (Silver Hawk), is a
half-sister to ZAMINDAR.
Coquerelle made all, quickening clear with 400 metres to go before
narrowly holding the late surge of Believe Me to retain her
unbeaten record. The strapping bay is a daughter of Banstead Manor
Stud’s leading juvenile Zamindar, whose 263 foals aged three and
over also feature the Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches heroines
Darjina and Zenda and the prolific Scandinavian Pattern victor
Jubilation. A full-brother to the dual European Champion
Zafonic, ZAMINDAR stands for
£7,000 (live foal).
