ZAMINDAR FILLY TOPS THE DAY
Taken from the EBN
€150,000 was the day’s highest-priced two-year-old, the sum paid by
agent Marc-Antoine Berghgracht for Squeeky. Offered as Lot 118, the
daughter of ZAMINDAR is destined for
Chantilly, where she will carry the colours of a new Hong
Kong-based owner.
Berghgracht explained, “This new client is keen to support up
and coming professionals and is setting up a string with young
trainer Fabrice Cohen in Chantilly. We have already bought a
Galileo colt in Newmarket. This filly worked nicely this morning
and she has a good pedigree. I have heard that her brother, who is
in training with Pascal Bary, is well thought of.”
Squeeky was presented by Normandy-based pre-trainers Philip and
Julie Prevost-Baratte and she is out of dual winner Beggars Belief
(Common Grounds). Her half-brother Bernando (Hernando) has won two
races to date. Beggars Belief’s half-sister Likely Story is a
Listed winner, who has in turn produced Listed scorer Squaw Dance.
Third dam Minnie Hauk is the dam of Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes winner
Aviance, whose offspring include Gr.1 winners Denon and Chimes of
Freedom, from excellent Niarchos family lines.
Squeeky was a very successful pinhook, as she had been bought
for only €42,000 by agent Guy Petit at last year’s Deauville sale
in August.
