The day’s top price of half a million guineas was gleaned by a Rathbarry Stud consigned son of OASIS DREAM (Lot 89) whose half-sister, Finsceal Beo, was one of the star’s of the 2007 European season. She narrowly missed out on a clean sweep of the premier 1,000 Guineas when, having landed the British and Irish versions for Jim Bolger’s stable, she was beaten by the length of Darjina’s head in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches.
OASIS DREAM'S standing among sires was given another boost on Sunday when Naaqoos won the Gr.1 Prix Jean- Luc Largardere, and when his yearling daughter’s entrance created a proliferation in people, all was set for a high price. It transpired that only one person mattered. Sheikh Mohammed, standing alongside John Ferguson, offered 500,000gns and John O’Kelly’s hammer came down.
