ANOTHER GROUP WINNER FOR OASIS

Solario winner Sri Putra keeps the Oasis Dream bandwagon rolling
Rachel Pagones
Sri Putra’s Solario Stakes win on Saturday was the latest evidence that OASIS DREAM is turning into a very useful sire, especially at £25,000 fee that all of his runners have been bred on. His fee was £30,000 this year, and is not an untoward rise, by the looks of it.
OASIS DREAM was also represented by Keep Discovering who battled to his second consecutive handicap win at Chester on Friday. The most expensive of 50 yearlings by his sire sold in 2006 when knocked down to John Ferguson at Tattersalls October Sales Part 1, Keep Discovering has not quite lived up to expectations, but has nonetheless won four times in 11 starts.
Interestingly, Keep Discovering is out of a Sadler’s Wells mare (Last Tycoon’s three-quarter sister Side of Paradise), while Sri Putra is out of a mare by Sadler’s Wells’s son In The Wings. Both are thus inbred 4x4 to Northern Dancer, via Danzig and Sadler’s Wells.
Sri Putra’s dam, the unraced Wendylina, is a half sister to Prix de Diane winner Caerlina, whose daughter La Nuit Rose is the dam of Night Of Fortune, also a winner at Chester on Friday.
Night of Fortune, who won the 7f nursery for his second such victory, is by Key Of Luck, whose Danzig sire line descends via Chief’s Crown. The same line produced Red Gala, who won the Listed Chester Handicap at Chester on Saturday. By Chief’s Crown’s grandson Sinndar, Red Gala is out of 1996 Prestige Stakes winner Red Camellia, by Nureyev’s son Polar Falcon, and is a half-sister to Fillies’ Mile winner Red Bloom.
Even apart from OASIS DREAM, Green Desert’s sire sons had a prolific weekend, with Cape Cross, Desert Prince and Invincible Sprit all responsible for multiple winners. Moreover, the wins came at all distances – ranging from the 5f handicap victory by Ridge Wood Dani (by Invincible Spirit) at Sandown to the 2m1f handicap win of Dafarabad (Cape Cross) at Killarney.
FAST-FINISHING SRI PUTRA LANDS SOLARIO STAKES
Taken from the EBN
Sri Putra came with a well-timed run to land the Gr.3 Solario Stakes at Sandown Park. Cry of Freedom (Street Cry) set a good pace but he began to tire inside the last two furlongs and was soon passed by The Cheka (Xaar). The latter looked to have the race sewn up, but he was caught close home by the winner.
A son of Juddmonte’s successful young sire OASIS DREAM, Sri Putra was bred by Glebe House Stud and partners. He was bought by the BBA Ireland for 65,000gns at Tattersalls as a foal and by Charlie Gordon-Watson for 240,000gns at the same company’s Book One Yearling Sale. His Royal Highness Sultan Ahmad Shah’s colt retained his unbeaten record and is likely to go for the valuable Tattersalls Million race next, according to his trainer Michael Jarvis. He attracted odds of 25 and 33 to 1 for next year’s 2,000 Guineas.
