GLORIOUS RESULTS FOR JUDDMONTE AT GOODWOOD
Article taken from the Racing Post by Martin Stevens
The final day of the Glorious Goodwood meeting produced outstanding results for Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte breeding empire – especially for one of the operation's most successful families.
Midday's game victory in the Blue Square Nassau Stakes not only provided Banstead Manor sire OASIS DREAM with his second Group 1 winner after last year's Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere hero Naaqoos, but she was also the second descendant of influential Juddmonte broodmare Modena to win a race on the card, after Zacinto (DANSLIL) captured the Listed Blue Square Premier Stakes.
Last year's Champagne Stakes runner-up Zacinto, who was making his three-year-old debut today, is a maternal grandson of Modena's Oaks-winning daughter Reams Of Verse, while Midday, who had finished placed behind Sariska in both the Epsom and Irish Oaks earlier this year, is out of Modena's Listed-placed daughter Midsummer.
Modena's other offspring included Eclipse and Irish Champion Stakes winner Elmaamul – who went on to sire multiple Grade 1 winner Sweet Return and successful French stallion Muhtathir – and stakes winners High Walden, Novellara, Modesta, Modernise and Modern Day.
Zacinto was DANSILI’S third stakes winner of the week at Goodwood, after Gordon Stakes winner Harbinger and Glorious Stakes hero Illustrious Blue.
Midday's Nassau Stakes victory came at the expense of Rainbow View (Dynaformer), who was two and a quarter lengths back in second, and Moneycantbuymelove (Pivotal), another half-length back in third.
