MODERN LOOK MAKES A PROMISING RETURN
Article taken from the EBN by Alan Porter
Juddmonte Farm’s talented filly Modern Look (2005 f by ZAMINDAR – Prophecy by Warning) had not been seen since finishing tenth of eleven in the Gr.1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot last June.
Now in the care of Bobby Frankel, she reappeared in the Moscow Burning Stakes at Santa Anita last Friday and showed that she should soon be winning, missing by just ¾ length to Gr.2 winner, Dawn After Dawn.
Fourth in a Deauville maiden on her debut, Modern Look (ZAMINDAR) then won her remaining three starts at two, including the Gr.3 Prix Miesque.
Prior to her Ascot outing, she was second in the Listed Prix Imprudence (to Natagora), fourth in the Gr.1 French 1,000 Guineas (to Zarkava, Goldikova and Halfway to Heaven) and captured the Gr.2 Prix de Sandringham.
She is closely related to Arabesque (by ZAMINDAR’s brother Zafonic), winner of the Listed Flying Fillies’ Stakes, and dam of Group-placed Listed winner Camacho.
Their dam, Prophecy (whose three-year-old won on her debut yesterday), won the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes and the grandam, the Gr.3 Lancashire Oaks winner Andaleeb, is out of the Gr.2 Kentucky Oaks victress Bag of Tunes.
