Taken fron the TDN
Trainer Bobby Frankel, who died Monday at the age of 68, received a fitting tribute yesterday during the eighth session of the Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale in Lexington, with daughters of his Protégé EMPIRE MAKER sweeping the top three spots on the podium.
Leading the session was racing or broodmare prospect Clear Sailing, who went to Larry Richardson, agent for Coteau Grove, for $255,000. The three-year-old daughter of the 2003 Gr.1 Belmont Stakes winner is from the family of the sire Jump Start.
EMPIRE MAKER was also represented by broodmares Passiflora and Ruby’s Realm, who sold for $180,000 and $105,000, respectively.
