A QUESTION OF BREEDING
Article taken from the Racing Post, Bloodstock World.
In the first of a new series, Peter Onslow, who owns eight mares at his Sanfield Stud in Leyland, Lancashire, talks about his mating plans this spring.
Which established sires have you sent your mares to this spring?
"I think BEAT HOLLOW is really exciting and I’ve used him on two mares – Trick Or Treat and Rahcak, a Generous half-sister to Mark of Esteem, whom I bought at Keeneland in November 2007.
BEAT HOLLOW has Proportional to run for him this year - she’s out of a mare by Generous, so that made up my mind where to send Rahcak.
I didn’t want to go to Ireland with Trick Or Treat as she has a Manduro foal at foot, and BEAT HOLLOW is one of a small number of proven top-class sires in Britain who is not completely booked up or out of my price bracket."
