OASIS DREAM OUT ON HIS OWN IN THIRD-CROP CHART
Taken from the Racing Post by Nancy Sexton
The second week in July was a perfect illustration of how potentially influential OASIS DREAM could become. At Newmarket's July meeting, the stallion's two-year-olds, Misheer and Arcano, put themselves in line for the Stanjames.com 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas with wins in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton and TNT July Stakes. Then, two days later, Aqlaam, a member of OASIS DREAM'S first crop, maintained his comeback from injury when taking the Totesport.com Summer Mile at Ascot, several hours before Tuscan Evening landed her first Graded stakes win in the Royal Heroine Mile Stakes at Hollywood Park.
In addition, Captain Gerrard failed narrowly to make it a fantastic five in the Toteswinger City Wall Stakes, while Investec Oaks runner-up Midday - one of a handful by her sire to stay 1m4f – was third in the Darley Irish Oaks on unfavoured heavy ground. Consequently, OASIS DREAM heads the third-crop sires' list by a sizeable margin, and with a strong battalion of two-year-olds already representing him as well as a classy fleet of older horses (among them today's likely Betfair Cup favourite Main Aim), his position at the top looks secure for the time being.
