SECOND SUCCESSIVE GR.1 WIN FOR PROVISO

Hours after Workforce won the Derby for Khalid Abdullah at Epsom, the famous Juddmonte silks were carried to another top-level victory by the former Andre Fabre-trained Proviso (DANSILI).
Always handy in the Just A Game Stakes, the five-year-old daughter of DANSILI was kicked on after entering the straight and had just enough in reserve to hold off Phola in this $400,000 contest.
Proviso, sent off 11-10 favourite, was recording her second straight Grade 1 win on American grass after taking the Kilroe Mile at Santa Anita in March.
"I'm just getting more and more impressed with her the more I get to ride her,"said jockey Mike Smith, speaking to the Daily Racing Form.
"She went from being a pretty nervous filly to a mare that's really come into herself right now; relaxing. It's added a few more lengths to her. That's a really nice mare she held off. She had to do a lot of the dirty work and still held them off."
