In her last two starts, the 2-year-old filly Queen’s Harbour (MIZZEN MAST) stopped badly, but Sunday she kept on going to pull off the upset in the $65,000 East View Stakes.
Sent to the front by Garcia, Queen's Harbor opened up on the pack, easily holding off the late run from favored Miss Valentine to score by 4-1/2 lengths.
"This time I was able to be alone on the lead," said Garcia, who finished sixth aboard the filly in last month's Swirlaway Stakes. "She loved two turns. I told everyone after her last race she would be better around two turns, and she was."
Queen's Harbor returned $55 to win as the longest shot on the board in the six-horse field, running the mile and 70 yards in 1:44.11.
