FIFTH GR.1 WINNER FOR OASIS DREAM

The Michael Jarvis-trained Pressing (Soviet Star) made a brave bid to win the third Gr.1 of his career when taking the lead 400m from home in yesterday’s Gr.1 Premio Presidente della Repubblica and, although the local star Voila Ici (Daylami) regained the lead in the closing stages, neither could withstand the late charge of the German raider Querari (OASIS DREAM), who flew home to win by three quarters of a length.
The OASIS DREAM four-year-old, trained by Andreas Wohler for his owner-breeder Gestut Fahrhof, is now the fifth top level winner for his multiple Gr.1-winning sire, following Aqlaam, Arcano, Midday and Naaqoos.
Oasis Dream stands at Banstead Manor Stud for £65,000.
Querari won the Gr.3 Euro Cup over 2000m at Frankfurt last season and has been placed twice at Pattern level. This was a much improved performance from his seasonal debut, in which he finished fifth in last month’s Gr.3 Frankfurter Meile, and he seems well suited by this 2000m trip. His dam was a Listed winner over 2000m and is by Acatenango, his grandam Quebrada (Devil’s Bag) was a dual German Champion Filly, and his third dam, the ten furlong Gr.1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes winner Queen to Conquer (King’s Bishop), is the grandam of Gr.1 Preis der Diana winner Silvester Lady.
