TWICE OVER DOES THE DOUBLE
Article taken from the EBN.
Twice Over, put up a commanding performance to land the Gr.1 Champion Stakes for the second year running, having also finished second in the 2008 running. The five-year-old son of Juddmonte’s OBSERVATORY took up the running inside the final quarter of a mile and ran on well to win by a length and three quarters.
Cecil said of his triple Gr.1 winning horse, “Twice Over is a lovely horse and I am very pleased with that result. It is great when it all goes right and things do not always fall like this. He did it very well and was in good form coming into the race. He will have a rest now and we will then take him back to the [Gr.1] Dubai World Cup, when hopefully he will have a better draw than last year. He won’t go to the Breeders’ Cup as the Prince does not want to run him on dirt in America. He is my favourite horse and will stay in training next year. I wish I had a few more like him as he is a lovely person.”
Twice Over, who also won the Gr.1 Eclipse Stakes in July, is out of the Listed Oaks Trial winner Double Crossed (Caerleon), who is a half-sister to the dam of the Gr.1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Passage of Time (Dansili).
Emulous continued a glorious weekend for her owner breeder Juddmonte Farms when running out the two length winner of the Listed ISF EBF Garnet Stakes at Naas. The three-year-old DANSILI filly had won the Gr.3 Concorde Stakes at Tipperary last time out and made light of her penalty for winning that race. This was her third victory in six starts, and she has been placed three times.
