Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms captured the Eclipse Award as outstanding breeder for the fifth time and first since winning three consecutive years from 2001 through ’03. Juddmonte also won the award in 1995.
Horses bred and owned by Abdullah won $8,003,767 in 2009, led by Grade 1 winners Ventura, Champs Elysees, Midday (GB), and Midships.
Overall, Juddmontebreds started 300 times and collected 44 wins, including six Grade 1 victories and three Grade 2 triumphs, to finish second in earnings behind Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs operation, which amased 551 wins from 3,840 starts and $12,736,490.
Juddmonte, whose operation is comprised of three properties in the U.S. and six properties in England and Ireland, now has won seven Eclipse Awards as outstanding breeder or owner. Abdullah also has been honored as a leading breeder and owner in Great Britain and France.
