AN EMPIRE ON THE RISE

The month of June, thus far, has showcased an impressive group of stakes horses by EMPIRE MAKER. 

Off the mark the first weekend, it was multiple graded stakes winner ACOMA showing that time off for a bit of freshening up has not hindered her competitive spirit as she came home second in the Early Times Mint Julep Handicap Gr.3 at Churchill Downs.  This ultra consistent filly has a life time record that includes six graded stakes wins – an indication of not only her ability but her soundness and fortitude. 

During the second weekend of June, it was EMPIRE MAKER’s son BATTLE PLAN that made his mark at Churchill as he came down the stretch well in front in the Stephen Foster Handicap Gr.1 only to be passed close to the wire.  This impeccably bred son of EMPIRE MAKER and Flanders won the New Orleans Handicap Gr.3 at the Fair Grounds back in March.

This past week provided EMPIRE MAKER with two new stakes placings for the year with EMPIRE LEVANT finishing second in the Derby de L’Ouest at Nantes and SOARING EMPIRE making a splash in the Pegasus Stakes Gr.3 at Monmouth, getting up for third.

Looking forward to the remainder of the month, one can only predict that this continuation of stakes success will continue for EMPIRE MAKER as his empire looks to be on the rise.
