FIFTH GRADED VICTORY FOR DREAM'S TUSCAN EVENING
Article taken from the EBN.
Tuscan Evening (OASIS DREAM) took her American record to nine wins from thirteen starts with an all the way victory in Sunday’s Gr.2 Santa Ana Handicap at Santa Anita. The five-year-old defied topweight in the nine-furlong turf contest, beating Cat by the Tale (Tale of the Cat) by a length and a quarter. The British-bred pair April Pride (Falbrav) and Treat Gently (Cape Cross) finished down the field.
The daughter of Juddmonte Farms’ OASIS DREAM has now won three Graded Stakes in a row, and five in all, and her earnings have passed $800,000.
Tuscan Evening set a steady pace and drew clear of Cat By The Tale in the final 100 yards. Also successful in this year’s Gr.2 Buena Vista Handicap and Gr.3 Monrovia Handicap and last year’s Gr.2 Las Palmas Handicap and Gr.2 Royal Heroine Stakes and beaten only a head by Halfway To Heaven in the 2008 Gr.1 Irish 1,000 Guineas, Tuscan Evening hails from the first crop of Juddmonte Farms’ European Champion Juvenile and European Champion Sprinter OASIS DREAM, whose three crops of racing age number sixteen Graded/Group winners. Of these, Shadwell’s Aqlaam, Haras du Mezeray’s Naaqoos, Midday and Arcano have each triumphed at the highest level.
