RIVALS DOOMED AS HARBINGER DOMINATES
Article taken from the EBN.
Harbinger (DANSILI) put up arguably the best performance of the year to land the Gr.1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot yesterday. The four-year-old colt swept past his rivals, including the Gr.1 Derby and Gr.1 Irish Derby winners, to win unchallenged by an ever increasing eleven lengths in a record time.
Settled in fourth in the small field, he made headway to take the lead in the last quarter of a mile before setting sail for home, leaving his rivals toiling in his wake.
Harbinger has now won six races from nine starts and is unbeaten this season, having collected the Gr.3 John Porter Stakes in April, the Gr.3 Ormonde Stakes in May and the Gr.2 Hardwicke Stakes last month. The colt has the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe as his major target and is now favourite following his impressive win yesterday.
Harbinger is by Juddmonte’s DANSILI, who has enjoyed a memorable week, siring the Gr.3 Meld Stakes winner Famous Name and the Gr.3 Tyros Stakes winner Zoffany, as well the Listed Sweet Mimosa Stakes winner Bewitched.
