SEA MOON SECOND IN TURF
Great Voltigeur Stakes Gr.2 winner Sea Moon ran a gallant second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Gr.1 at Churchill Downs on Saturday night.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained son of BEAT HOLLOW was second only to St Nicholas Abbey, making impressive headway during the race despite being last to break from the gate.
“Sea Moon ran a blinder,” said Prince Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe. “He probably wasn't helped by a slowish start but he then got in a super position. He challenged and did everything he could. He is still a bit babyish and hopefully there is more improvement in him.”
Sea Moon is the highest rated middle distance three-year-old colt in Europe according to Timeform, and is certainly a horse to look forward to next year.
