JUDDMONTE STALLIONS CLEAN UP AT YORK
The Juddmonte Stallions made a huge impact on the first day of the Ebor meeting at York, siring all three winners of the Group races.
Entifaadha (DANSILI) got the day off to a flying start, winning the Acomb Stakes Gr.2 on only his second racecourse appearance having won a maiden at Newmarket last time out. He battled on gamely up the home straight in a three way tussle, just getting the better of his rivals by over a length and has staked his claims for Classic consideration. Entifaadha is DANSILI's 12th Group winner in 2011.
Sea Moon (BEAT HOLLOW) shocked even his connections with an emphatic eight length romp in the next race on the card, the Great Voltigeur Stakes Gr.2, making him red-hot favourite for the St Leger at Doncaster in September.
Bred by Juddmonte, Sea Moon is by BEAT HOLLOW who is currently the Leading Sire of 3yo’s in Europe this year (in order of percentage of winners to runners) and is closely related to a St Leger winner in Brian Boru (Sadler’s Wells). He is also a half-brother to the Gr.2 Prix de Royallieu winner Moon Search (Rainbow Quest).
The big race of the day, the Juddmonte International Stakes Gr.1 not only provided the Juddmonte Stallions with a 1-2 but also the Juddmonte breeding operation with a treble. Twice Over (OBSERVATORY) who was a course and distance winner last month when winning the York Stakes Gr.2, just stayed on the better of the Juddmonte pair with Midday (OASIS DREAM) three-quarters of a length back in second. Both horses could meet again in the Champion Stakes.
Owned and bred by Khalid Abdulla’s Juddmonte Farms, Twice Over (OBSERVATORY) comes from a top class family, which includes the Gr.1 winners Passage Of Time (DANSILI) and All At Sea (Riverman) and this year’s winners at the highest level Mutual Trust (Cacique) and Timepiece (ZAMINDAR).
