FIRST FOALS WELL RECEIVED AT TATTERSALLS
The first foals by multiple Gr.1 winner CHAMPS ELYSEES have been very well received this week at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale.
After two days of selling, CHAMPS ELYSEES has had four foals sell for an average price of 32,500 guineas – well above the Foal Sale average of 19,987 guineas.
On day one of the Sale, lot 439 (pictured), a bay colt out of Aswaaq (Peintre Celebre) from the family of Champion miler Bahri, fetched 33,000 guineas when knocked down to Will Edmeades Bloodstock. Consigned by Trickledown Stud on behalf of Sparsholt Stud, the colt was the highest priced foal of any first season sire to sell on the first day of the Sale.
One of the stars of day two meanwhile was Lot 675, a good-looking bay colt out of Waitingonacloud (In The Wings) – a half-sister to Prix du Moulin Gr.1 winner Aqlaam. The colt, consigned by Voute Sales Ltd on behalf of Granham Farm, was bought by Margaret O'Toole for 50,000 guineas.
Earlier in the day, Lot 551, a bay filly out of Bolsena (Red Ransom) – herself out of the multiple Gr.1 winning mare and stakes producer Waya – consigned by Langton Stud, made 36,000 guineas when sold to Blandford Bloodstock.
CHAMPS ELYSEES, a full brother to the leading sire of Northern Hemisphere blacktype winners in 2011, DANSILI, will stand for a fee of £7,500 in 2012. Juddmonte Farms is offering the chance to view all the stallions during the December Sales by appointment. A courtesy car is available between 10.30am and 3pm for interested parties.
