BATED BREATH RETIRES TO BANSTEAD MANOR STUD
Banstead Manor Stud is to welcome the extremely tough and high class sprinter BATED BREATH to its stallion roster for 2013. A decision has been taken to retire him now as it is most unlikely that the ground would be suitable for him during the remainder of the season.
BATED BREATH showed exceptional speed and consistency throughout the course of his 18-race career. He broke the track record at Haydock when winning the Group 2 Temple Stakes earlier this year, and has been a close runner-up in no less than four Group 1 sprints, as well as a recent third in the Group 1 Sprint Cup.
Described by his trainer Roger Charlton as “The best sprinter I´ve ever trained”, BATED BREATH has beaten 17 individual Group 1 winners of 34 Group 1 races, at all times displaying excellent soundness and attitude.
BATED BREATH is out of Tantina, also the dam of the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free winner Cityscape, and he is bred on the highly successful DANSILI/Distant View cross, which from 9 starters has produced 5 blacktype winners including Group 1 winner Emulous and Group 2 winner Zacinto.
Philip Mitchell, General Manager of Juddmonte Farms, said: “BATED BREATH is a really exciting stallion for Juddmonte. He is an exceptionally fast son of DANSILI, and like his sire was unlucky not to win a Group 1 race, but retires as a track record breaking Group 2 winner. I am quite certain that he has a very promising stallion career ahead.
"He will be available for inspection by breeders at Banstead Manor Stud as from Tattersalls October Yearling Sales, Part II. His nomination fee will be confirmed after the forthcoming Yearling sales."
