GREEN SUPREME CUPS BOUND
Green Supreme is emerging as one of New Zealand’s leading staying prospects, after winning the Dunstan Stayers Championship Final at Ellerslie. The exciting son of OASIS DREAM was born in the Southern Hemisphere after his dam, Haibah (Rainbow Quest), was purchased at the Tattersalls December Sale in 2004 for 115,000 guineas carrying the colt in utero.
European Bloodstock News 05/01/12:
Green Supreme earned himself a tilt at the Gr.2 Wellington and Gr.1 Auckland Cups with a strong victory in the Dunstan Stayers Championship Final at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day. The five-year-old cemented his reputation as one of New Zealand's most exciting distance prospects, taking the race for emerging stayers despite doing many things wrong during the race.
“He hated the [slow] track and was laying in all the way,” jockey James McDonald said. “He did it the hard way but he is a very good horse.”
Trainer Graham Richardson said Green Supreme was up with the best horses he had trained. He will now set the horse for the Wellington Cup (2400m) on 28th January and then look at the Auckland Cup (3200m) on 7th March.
