FRANKEL HAS GLOBAL APPEAL

Juddmonte Farms today outlined the 'phenomenal interest' that FRANKEL has attracted from the breeding industry as the world’s greatest racehorse prepares for his first season as a stallion.

From February 15 to next June, the unbeaten champion will be visited by a star-studded book of 'outside' mares – and also a stellar selection from within Juddmonte Farms.

Among the star names lined up for FRANKEL is none other than Danedream, the 2011 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroine. The Sir Henry Cecil-trained son of Galileo is also intended to meet up with multiple Group 1 winners Stacelita and Alexander Goldrun – and recent Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf scorer Zagora

From beyond Europe, Frankel has attracted Japanese champion race-mare Vodka and US mare Oatsee, who has an outstanding record, having already produced four Graded Stakes winners including Preakness Stakes winner Shackleford.

Of the ‘outside’ mares accepted to date, no less than 33 have either won a Gr.1, or produced a Gr.1 winner – some have achieved both.

Philip Mitchell, Juddmonte Farms’ General Manager at Banstead Manor Stud, said: “The interest in Frankel from breeders has been phenomenal. As well as European breeders, enquiries have come from as far a-field as America and Japan.”

Mitchell added: “Obviously it is a huge thrill to have FRANKEL back at Banstead and apart from settling down so well, it has struck us all how very intelligent he is – he seems to have an ability to understand and adapt immediately to any new situation that he is presented with.

“His daily routine now includes joining the other Juddmonte stallions BATED BREATH, CHAMPS ELYSEES, DANSILI, OASIS DREAM, RAIL LINK and ZAMINDAR on hand-walking exercise around the farm, covering approximately seven miles, which is the fitness programme for the approaching stud season.”

Juddmonte Farms’ mating plans are in the process of being finalised. But it is anticipated FRANKEL ‘home’ book will include 2010 broodmare of the year Binche (the dam of Group 1 winners Proviso and Byword) and multiple Group-producing mare Clepsydra (the dam of Group 1 winners Passage Of Time and Timepiece, as well as Group 2 winner Father Time).

Hasili’s outstanding family is likely to be represented by the dual Grade 1 winner Heat Haze, while the brilliant race-mare Midday (winner of six Group 1 races) and her dam Midsummer are also pencilled in for Frankel.
