STARBOARD WINS PRIX DU PRINCE D’ORANGE
ZAMINDAR enjoyed a Gr.3 first and second in France on Saturday (22nd September) when the improving Starboard won the Prix du Prince d’Orange at Longchamp by three lengths. Prince Mag finished in second place – the two colts beating a quality field which included the Gr.1 winners Mandaean and Lucayan.
Taken from European Bloodstock News 23/09/12:
The progressive Starboard stepped up on his previous good efforts in Group company to land the Gr.3 Prix du Prince d’Orange on the same card. The three-year-old son of Zamindar made all the running, going clear a furlong out to win unchallenged by three lengths from his paternal half-brother Prince Mag.
Now the winner of three of his seven starts, he is likely to head to the Gr.2 Prix Dollar at the same course next month on the day before the Arc.
Homebred by Juddmonte Farms, he is out of the Listed Prix Denisy-second Summer Shower (Sadler’s Wells), who is a full-sister to the Gr.2 Princess of Wales’s Stakes winner Doctor Freemantle, who now plies his trade in Australia, out of a Gr.3-placed full-sister to the Gr.1 winners and sires Raintrap and Sunshack, all by Rainbow Quest, from the family of the Gr.1 winners Meteor Storm (Bigstone) and Polish Summer (Polish Precedent).
