TESTOSTERONE SECURES FIRST BRITISH VICTORY

Taken from European Bloodstock News 11/04/13:

The EBF Further Flight Stakes, a Listed contest over 1m 6f at Nottingham was won by the Ed Dunlop-trained five-year-old mare Testosterone (DANSILI).

Previously trained by Pascal Bary in France, where she won the Gr.2 Prix de Malleret and Gr.3 Prix de Royaumont as well as being second to Galikova (Galileo) in the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille, she was purchased at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale for 1,200,000 guineas in 2011 by Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock.

Now trained by Dunlop for owner Nurlan Bizakov, she had been disappointing, having been unplaced on her three British starts, to date, but she seemed to relish the step up in trip and won comfortably.

Tracking the leaders, she made headway after covering a mile, taking up the lead three furlongs from home and staying on strongly to win by three and a quarter lengths from the Nicky Henderson-trained Earth Amber (Hurricane Run), with the Alan King-trained Hadnazan (Nayef) a further half a length back in third.

The daughter of Juddmonte Farms’ DANSILI was bred by Scea La Poterie and, as well as her sale at Tattersalls, she changed hands twice in the Arqana sales ring, as a yearling and two-year-old for €13,000 and €15,000 respectively. She is out of the Listed-placed Sadler’s Wells mare Epopee, a three-parts sister to Gr.1 winner and good Australian-based sire Scenic, while her third dam is a half-sister to the Gr.3-winning pair I Will Follow (dam of Gr.1 winner and leading sire Rainbow Quest) and Slightly Dangerous (dam of Gr.1 winners Commander In Chief, Warning and Yashmak).
