FIRST CROP STAKES WINNER FOR CHAMPS ELYSEES

First crop sire CHAMPS ELYSEES was represented by his first stakes winner on Sunday (15th September) with Avenue Gabriel's victory in the Flame Of Tara European Breeders Fund Stakes L. at the Curragh.

Despite being badly hampered on the rail in the closing stages, the filly showed an impressive turn of foot to land the second victory of her career, following on from a debut win and placings in the Debutante Stakes Gr.2 and Silver Flash Stakes Gr.3.

Trainer Paul Deegan said after the race: "She´s improved and is coming forward every week. It got very rough out there but she´s as tough as they come.

"Stepping up in trip today was always going to help. She has entries in the Fillies´ Mile and Prix Marcel Boussac and if the boss wants to run we´ll go to Newmarket. I think that would suit her a little bit better."

CHAMPS ELYSEES is currently the leading British-based first crop sire by percentage winners to runners in Britain and Ireland (Hyperion Statistics, 15/09/13, with more than 10 runners), and is a full-brother to leading sire DANSILI and Gr.1 sire Cacique.
