DANSILI LEAVING HIS MARK

Juddmonte’s UK base just outside of Newmarket is best known as the home of superstar FRANKEL (Galileo) but the internationally renowned farm boasts a strong overall roster with one of its members currently making his mark in this part of the world.

Despite limited representation down under, the handsome DANSILI (Danehill) has fared extremely well in Australia, his latest success story being the tough and classy imported Foreteller. Winner of Saturday’s Ranvet Stakes (Gr.1, 2000m), Foreteller joins Permit and Trick Of Light as imported Australian stakes winners for DANSILI.

And he has had a fourth also, his promising Listed winning daughter Soft Sand having been born in NSW after her dam Mizzle (Rahy) was covered to Southern Hemisphere time at Juddmonte.

DANSILI's four local stakes winners come from just 16 runners and another six of those have been winners, including the in-form Kris Lees-trained imports Award Season (winner of four of her last five) and Hathras – winner of his last two at Rosehill and Warwick Farm.

DANSILI's excellent local record is just part of the bigger story that is his international success, the well related stallion having been represented by a total of 74 stakes winners – with Foreteller his 12th Gr.1 winner.

Also the sire of such outstanding performers as Proviso, Rail Link, Harbinger and Coolmore Australia’s Zoffany, DANSILI, who currently stands at a fee of £80,000 (approx $116,205) kicked off career at a far humbler fee of £8,000 ($11,620) in 2001.

A three times Group winner over a mile in France, Dansili was rather unlucky not to have won at the elite level, having recorded six Gr.1 placings behind the likes of Sendawar (Priolo), Giant’s Causeway (Storm Cat), Indian Lodge (Grand Lodge), Kalanisi (Doyoun), War Chant (Danzig) and Dubai Millennium (Seeking The Gold).

However whilst DANSILI did not manage a Gr.1 victory, several of his siblings did, his dam being the remarkable broodmare Hasili (Kahyasi) whose record of five individual Gr.1 winners matches that of Eight Carat (Pieces Of Eight).

A Listed winning sprinter/miler, Hasili has produced seven winners from eight to race including the big races winner CHAMPS ELYSEES (Danehill), Banks Hill (Danehill), Intercontinental (Danehill), Cacique (Danehill) and Heat Haze (Green Desert), between them the winners of twelve Gr.1 races.

Cacique has sired stakes winners including the Gr.1 winner Mutual Trust (who made his Australian debut when unplaced in the recent Blamey Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m)), whilst Banks Hill is proving an excellent broodmare having produced the stakes winners Romantica (Galileo) and Ideal World (Kingmambo).

Cacique has also sired a local winner, the David Hayes-trained Readings saluting twice at Moonee Valley over the summer, whilst another imported member of this family displays considerable promise. Taking out the Golden Mile at Bendigo at his Australian debut, Jet Away (Cape Cross), also trained by Hayes, created a fine impression and is now set for a Sydney autumn carnival campaign.

His dam Kalima is a sister to Hasili. Meanwhile another member of this family stands in Victoria, Eliza Park being the home to the Listed winner Sharkbite (Redoute’s Choice), whose second dam Skiable (Niniski) is a half-sister to Hasili.

It is still early days for DANSILI as a broodmare sire but so far so good with his daughters already producing three stakes winners, including the Gr.3 winner Tell Dad (Itikhab). He has seven active broodmare daughters in Australia, served last spring by Lonhro (Zabeel), I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), Testa Rossa (Perugino), Authorized (Montjeu), Sidereus (General Nediym), Medaglia d’Oro (El Prado) and Falvelon (Alannon).

Like all sons of Danehill (Danzig), DANSILI has excelled when crossed with further strains of Northern Dancer (Nearctic) with 50 of his stakes winners line-bred to that legendary stallion. Foreteller is one of those – and one of 15 bred on a Dansili/Lyphard (Northern Dancer) cross; along with fellow Gr.1 winners Harbinger and Emulous. Foreteller also boasts a 5 X 4 cross of Roberto (Hail To Reason) who also appears duplicated in the pedigrees of other DANSILI stakes winners Zacinto, Ice Blue and Fire Lily.
