IMPRESSIVE WEEKEND FOR OASIS DREAM
OASIS DREAM firmed his position as the leading European sire by winners and the leading British-based sire by earnings over the weekend, with several exciting prospects at the Curragh continuing their sire’s excellent run of form.
The Juddmonte stallion was the sire of seven winners last week alone – including a Classic winner (Peace At Last - see 22nd May), two stakes winners and an exciting juvenile prospect, as well as a Classic runner-up and three further blacktype performers.
At the Curragh on Saturday (25th), OASIS DREAM runners won or placed second in the first five races on the card, highlighted by the win of Chigun in the Abu Dhabi Stakes Gr.3 and the victory of the two-year-old Coach House in the Marble Hill Stakes L.
Chigun, bred by Whatton Manor Stud and owned by Mr Vefa Araci, has been described by Nancy Sexton as “a Group 1 winner in waiting”, and together with Aqlaam, Sarkiyla and Welwitschia is one of four Pattern winners bred on the OASIS DREAM / Blushing Groom cross.
Coach House, trained by Aidan O’Brien on behalf of the Coolmore team, is now unbeaten in two starts, and holds an entry in the Phoenix Stakes Gr.1 at the Curragh in August.
Gale Force Ten meanwhile almost gave his sire back-to-back winners of the Irish 2000 Guineas Gr.1, finishing runner-up to Magician, whilst Reply kept on well to be second by a neck in the Greenlands Stakes Gr.2. In the opening race of the card, Bye Bye Birdie made all the running and was only caught in the final strides, finishing a close runner-up in the 6f maiden.
OASIS DREAM's latest crop of foals include a full-sister to six-time Gr.1 winner Midday and a half-brother to English and French 1000 Guineas Gr.1 winner Special Duty, as well as foals out of dual Oaks Gr.1 winner Sariska, Prix de l'Opera Gr.1 winner Zee Zee Top (dam of Pretty Polly Stakes Gr.1 and Prix Jean Romanet Gr.1 winner Izzi Top) and a full-sibling to last year's Irish 2000 Guineas Gr.1 winner Power.
