Odds on favourite The Nile stormed to an 11 length victory at Lingfield yesterday (2nd May).

The colt, trained by John Gosden on behalf of Prince Khalid Abdullah, broke his maiden in style, having made a promising debut at Newbury last summer. He is now being aimed at the St James’s Palace Gr.1 Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Taken from European Bloodstock News 2/5/12:

The Nile made an impressive debut to his season and romped away with the maiden justifying his favouritism. The son of THREE VALLEYS is a half-brother to the Listed Radley Stakes-placed Flood Plain (Orpen) and the juvenile winners Hunting Tartan (OASIS DREAM) and Sampi (Beat Hollow). They are out of the winner Delta (Zafonic), who is a half-sister to two winners, Equator (OBSERVATORY) and Humber (Bering; dam of the Italian juvenile winner Kokopell’ Mana). Their dam is the juvenile winner Fleet River (Riverman), a half-sister to the Gr.2 Royal Lodge Stakes winner, Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile-placed and sire Eltish (Cox’s Ridge), the Gr.3 Los Angeles Handicap winner and sire Forest Gazelle (Green Forest), the Listed Virginia Rated Stakes winner Light Step (Nuryev; dam of the Listed Prix Ronde de Nuit winner Nova Step) and the Gr.3 Prix de Psyche-placed Souplesse (Majestic Light; dam of the Listed Acomb Stakes winner and sire Comfy). The third dam Nimble Feet (Danzig) is from the same family as the Listed winner and Gr.3 Miss Grillo Stakes-placed My Magic Moment (Forest Wildcat).

Delta has a yearling colt by THREE VALLEYS.
