Chigun became the 19th individual stakes winner of 2012 for OASIS DREAM when winning the Listed Rosemary Stakes at Newmarket on Friday (28th September).

The filly is trained by Sir Henry Cecil for Mr Vefa Araci, and was bred by Whatton Manor Stud.

Taken from European Bloodstock News 29/09/12:

Chigun (OASIS DREAM) made the jump from handicap winner to Listed class and put up a gutsy performance to win by a neck from Thistle Bird (Selkirk) in the Listed Mawatheeq Rosemary Stakes for trainer Sir Henry Cecil.

Jockey Tom Queally said, “We’ve probably gone easy enough in front but the more I asked of her, the more she kept giving me.”

Assistant trainer Mike Marshall confirmed: “She’s an improving filly and she’ll be very nice next year. The owner is quite keen to put her away now, but he wants to keep her in training, as she has got plenty of scope.”

Bred by Whatton Manor Stud, she is out of a half-sister to the Gr.3 Prix d’Arenburg winner Starlit Sands (OASIS DREAM) and the Champion Sprinter in Scandinavia in 1999, Sea Dane (Danehill), from the family of the Gr.1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner and sire Petoski (Niniski).
