Taken from European Bloodstock News 7/6/12:

Mainsail won yesterday’s (6th June) Listed Prix Matchem Stakes at Maisons-Laffitte by an impressive three lengths.

Star On The Rocks (Rock Of Gibraltar), the subsequent runner-up, set a generous pace while Christophe Soumillon sat motionless aboard Mainsail for most of the 1m1f contest.

The son of OASIS DREAM lengthened impressively whilst reeling in the leader, then ran away from his six rivals before being eased in the final furlong. The Khalid Abdulla homebred, trained by Pascal Bary, has only had three previous starts and won his maiden equally as impressively by three lengths. After the race Bary said: “That was a good-looking field and he has done it very nicely. All being well he will step up to the competative Gr.3 Prix Daphnis over one mile one and a half furlongs.”

He is a half-brother to the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe victor and sire RAIL LINK (DANSILI) and the Gr.2 Prix du Conseil de Paris winner Cross Harbour (ZAMINDAR), as well as the Gr.3 La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte winner Chelsea Manor (Grand Lodge). They are out of the five times winner Docklands (Theatrical), a half-sister to the Gr.3 (now Gr.2) July Stakes winner Wharf (Storm Bird) and the Prix de Lieurey victor Mooring (Zafonic).

Docklands has a yearling full-sister to RAIL LINK.
