Impressive when third in his first start back on 13th July, Dundonnell (FIRST DEFENCE) showcased an even more eyecatching performance at Lingfield on August 4th when finishing an astonishing 12 lengths ahead of his opponents.

According to trainer Roger Charlton's website this finish smashed a juvenile course record set at Lingfield in 1978. In doing so, Dundonnell earned himself a Timeform rating of 102, putting him on par with some of his most capable contemporaries and surely qualifying him for an attempt at stakes competition in the near future.

Charlton's website indicates a Novice start on the 18th of August could possibly warm the son of FIRST DEFENCE up for a stakes debut, or perhaps for his next start, he will jump into stakes contention in the Acomb Stakes on the 22nd August. No matter what challenge lies ahead, he has proven himself a very talented competitor, following in the footsteps of his Gr.1 winning sire who was also a juvenile winner who exhibited a blistering turn of foot.
