Juddmonte enjoyed another successful night at the Cartier Awards in London yesterday (13th November), with FRANKEL picking up two titles and The Fugue (DANSILI) receiving the Cartier Three-Year-Old Filly award.

FRANKEL – a new addition to the Juddmonte stallion roster for 2013 – became the first horse to be crowned Cartier Horse Of The Year for the second successive year, and only the second to receive the award on more than one occasion (the other horse being Ouija Board in 2004 and 2006).

Cartier's racing consultant Harry Herbert said: “FRANKEL lit up all our lives with his magnificent performances in 2012 and during the previous two years.

“He is the most successful horse in the 22-year history of the Cartier Racing Awards and that is no surprise given his domination of so many races.”

‘Team Frankel’ was also recognised with the Cartier/Daily Telegraph award of merit – which goes to those who have done most throughout their lifetime or the past 12 months to promote European racing and/or breeding.

Prince Khalid’s Racing Manager Lord Grimthorpe said: “The horse was named in honour of one extraordinary conditioner [Bobby Frankel] and trained by another.

“I have been in racing long enough to know this is a once in a lifetime experience.

FRANKEL has set the standard by which all future champions will be judged. He is undoubtedly Prince Khalid’s greatest breeding triumph. He has captured everybody's heart.

FRANKEL has dominated our lives both personally and professionally. It has been an experience and an extraordinary journey which has just captivated us - an experience we will treasure forever.”

DANSILI meanwhile had another fantastic season in 2012, and to top it off his Gr.1 winning daughter The Fugue won the title of Cartier Three-Year-Old Filly.

In six starts this season – all at Group level – The Fugue never finished out of the first three. The John Gosden-trained filly, owned and bred by Watership Down Stud, won a highly competitive renewal of the Nassau Stakes Gr.1 at Glorious Goodwood, was placed in second in the Yorkshire Oaks Gr.1 and was an unlucky third in both the Oaks Gr.1 and the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf Gr.1. She also won the Musidora Stakes Gr.3 at York, and was runner-up in the Ribblesdale Stakes Gr.2 at Royal Ascot.

The Fugue was one of three Gr.1 winners for leading British-based sire DANSILI in 2012.
